Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a maintenance worker to assist in a wide range of road and bridge upkeep across the state highway system. You will operate dump trucks, rollers, and related equipment to move materials and support preservation efforts.

Under supervision, you will perform manual labor, flag traffic, and help maintain drainage, potholes, and signage. A CDL is required within six months of placement, and basic license requirements apply.

Qualifications

• No minimum training or experience required.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• CDL Class A must be obtained within 6 months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance of roads and bridges on the state highway system.
• Operate dump trucks and equipment for hauling materials and performing maintenance.
• Perform manual labor tasks and flag traffic as needed.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections and adhere to fleet safety rules.
