The inspector conducts field inspections and supports project engineers. Responsibilities include inspections of materials, measurements for pay quantities, report writing, and coordination with contractors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 18–36 months of progressive transportation inspection experience.
• Experience inspecting roadways, bridges, or heavy civil construction.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Must obtain required GDOT certifications within specified timeframes.
• Proficiency in mathematical calculations including geometry and trigonometry.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent inspections of roadway and bridge construction to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
• Inspect asphalt and concrete materials, pavement placement, compaction, and general construction quality.
• Monitor traffic control devices and erosion/sediment control measures.
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate inspection records.
• Supervise inspectors and participate in project meetings and reviews.
• Assist with construction management duties on various transportation projects.
