Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a Road Maintenance Worker I/II to perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair on highways and storm drains, assist with snow removal, and support landscaping tasks. The role requires CDL, DOT medical card, flagging, defensive driving, and forklift certification within specified timelines.

Positions offer structured safety training, intermittent heavy manual labor in all weather, and potential operation of heavy equipment under supervision. DOE salary ranges apply.

Qualifications

• Experience with road/storm drain construction, maintenance/repair, and snow removal work.
• Familiarity with OSHA and MUTCD safety rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of Salt Lake County geography.
• Ability to operate multiple heavy and light construction vehicles in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assists in crack sealing, asphalt patching, mill and overlay, slurry preparation and resurfacing of roadways.
• Prepares roadways for asphalt application by grading and compacting road base; spreads and compacts asphalt.
• Assists with concrete installation and removal; assists in floating and finishing concrete.
• Sets up traffic warning signs, traffic cones, barricades, and flags traffic.
• Operates a variety of small hand tools and equipment.
• Remains prepared to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
