Job summary

Canadian Pacific Kansas City is seeking a Road Foreman to educate, promote, and monitor safe work practices for operating crews within a territory. The role aims to enhance the efficiency of locomotive engineers while ensuring adherence to operating rules and safety policies.

The position requires a high school diploma, GCOR qualification, and prior locomotive engineer experience, with strong communication skills and the ability to coach and mentor crews.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience as a qualified railway locomotive engineer.
• Strong working knowledge of railroad operating rules and regulations, including GCOR rules.
• Familiarity with collective agreements and their application to engineers and conductors.
• Effective communication and ability to relay instruction to crew.

Responsibilities

• Perform locomotive engineer train crew field evaluations.
• Plan and execute remedial training for deficiencies identified in field evaluations and rules violations.
• Coordinate all conductor new hire training and oversee field level on-the-job training.
• Oversee triennial recertification training for conductors and locomotive engineers in the area of responsibility.
• Conduct field efficiency testing and provide input to training content for identified issues.
• Deliver required skills training for conductors and locomotive engineers in the area of responsibility.
• Respond to train handling exceptions, incidents and derailments and implement corrective training as needed.
• Provide on-call support and emergency response on a rotating cycle for 24/7 operations.
