Job summary

CPKC is seeking a Road Foreman in North America to educate, promote, and monitor safe work practices for operating crews across a territory, enhancing locomotive engineers’ performance and ensuring strict adherence to safety rules and procedures.

The role emphasizes coaching, training, and certification oversight, with on-call emergency support to sustain 24/7 operations and a focus on reducing incidents and improving safety culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years as a qualified locomotive engineer
• Valid driver’s license
• GCOR rules qualification
• Ability to travel to U.S./Canada as required
• Strong knowledge of railroad operating rules
• Effective communication and instructional skills

Responsibilities

• Perform locomotive engineer train crew field evaluations
• Plan and execute remedial training for deficiencies
• Coordinate new hire training for conductors
• Oversee triennial recertification training for conductors and locomotive engineers
• Perform field efficiency testing
• Provide input to training course content based on field observations
• Deliver skills training for conductors and locomotive engineers
• Respond with expert analysis of train handling issues and implement corrective training
• Provide on-call support and emergency response on a rotating cycle for 24/7 operations
