Job summary

CPKC is seeking a Road Foreman to educate, promote, and monitor safe work practices for operating crews across a territory, ensuring effective application of operating rules and safety policies.

The role requires a strong background in locomotive operations, field training, and incident analysis, with a focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement within a 24/7 rail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience as a qualified railway locomotive engineer.
• Strong knowledge of railroad operating rules and regulations including GCOR, hours of work, and locomotive standards.
• Familiarity with collective agreements and their application to engineers and conductors.
• Effective communication and ability to relay instruction to crews.

Responsibilities

• Perform locomotive engineer train crew field evaluations.
• Plan and execute remedial training for deficiencies.
• Coordinate conductor new hire training and field OJT.
• Oversee tri-annual recertification training for conductors and engineers.
• Perform field efficiency testing.
• Provide input to training content based on field observations.
• Deliver skills training for conductors and engineers.
• Respond to train handling exceptions and incidents with corrective training.
• Provide on-call support and emergency response for 24/7 operations.
