Job summary

Canadian Pacific Kansas City is seeking a Trainmaster to optimize yard and road operations, ensuring safe and cost-effective movement of traffic. You will lead by example to build a strong safety culture, coach Train & Engine crews, and supervise multiple departments to meet LOSP and OP targets.

The role requires railway experience as a conductor and a valid driver’s license, with a focus on safety, communication, and leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience in logistics or operations is preferred.
• Railway/conductor experience is required; locomotive engineer qualification is a plus.
• Ability to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily yard-terminal/road operating plan for safe, cost-efficient traffic movement.
• Oversee train movements in yard and mainline with supervision and clear radio communication.
• Maintain safety culture and lead corrective actions per procedures and agreements.
• Manage safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics for the terminal.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions as per policy and BA.
• Attend derails/incidents as required and support safety-related activities.
• Manage inventory for terminals and lines of road within area of responsibility.
• Coach and mentor Train & Engine personnel; occasional train operation as needed.
