Job summary

CPKC is seeking a Road Foreman to educate, promote, and monitor safe practices for operating crews across a designated territory. The role emphasizes enforcing operating rules, safety policies, and procedures to improve safety and efficiency.

You will coordinate training, conduct field evaluations, and provide expert analysis for train handling exceptions while supporting 24/7 operations. A broad travel requirement and robust safety credentials are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Minimum of 2+ years as a qualified railway locomotive engineer or as required by regulations.
• Strong knowledge of railroad operating rules and GCOR.
• Knowledge of the collective agreement and its application to engineers and conductors.
• Effective communication to coach and instruct crews on safety and train handling.

Responsibilities

• Perform locomotive engineer train crew field evaluations.
• Plan and deliver remedial training for deficiencies and rule violations.
• Oversee new hire training and on-the-job training for conductors and engineers.
• Coordinate triennial recertification training for conductors and engineers.
• Provide field efficiency testing and input to course content for safety training.
• Deliver required skills training for conductors and engineers in responsibility area.
• Respond to incidents and provide expert analysis for corrective training.
