Job summary

BayCare Health System in Florida is seeking a Registered Nurse for the ICU at St. Joseph's Hospital North—Medical/Surgical ICU in Lutz. Shifts are 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM with every other weekend. This in-person, full-time role requires an RN license and a nursing degree (BSN preferred) with 1 year ICU experience and BLS/ACLS certification.

The ICU team provides compassionate, expert care with opportunities for mentorship, career growth, and extensive training within a large hospital network.

Qualifications

• RN license is required.
• Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• 1 year ICU experience in an Acute Care setting preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Care for ICU patients using nursing process and clinical standards.
• Delegate appropriate patient care activities to the health care team.
• Care for patient needs throughout recovery in critical care.
• Monitor, record, and update care team on vitals and assessments.
• Identify sudden or subtle changes in patient condition.
• Respond to medical emergencies for critical patients.
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals for continuity of care.

Requirements

• RN (Registered Nurse) License
• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Nursing
• 1-year RN experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse – ICU Responsibilities And Skills

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
