Job summary

BayCare is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Medical/Surgical ICU at St. Joseph's Hospital North in Lutz, FL.

The RN will provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM shift, full-time, with every-other weekend requirements and no on-call duties. Candidates must hold an active RN license and an nursing degree, with 1 year ICU experience and BLS/ACLS certifications as preferred qualifications.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• 1 year ICU experience preferred in acute care.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to ICU patients.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes.
• Collaborate with health-care team for discharge planning.
• Document care and communicate with physicians and families.
• Ensure compliance with clinical standards and nursing process.

Requirements:

• RN (Registered Nurse) License
• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Nursing
• 1-year RN experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse – ICU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
• Professional accountability and development
