Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular ICU at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, FL. The role requires delivering expert, compassionate ICU care in a busy hospital setting.

Responsibilities include patient monitoring, care coordination, and discharge planning, with a focus on teamwork and professional accountability. In-person, full-time schedule with evenings and alternate weekends, in a supportive BayCare system known for training and career growth.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• Diploma/ADN or BSN in nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor's in nursing.
• At least 1 year of ICU RN experience in acute care.
• BLS certification (American Red Cross or AHA).
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to ICU patients using nursing process and clinical standards.
• Delegate appropriate tasks to other health care team members.
• Monitor and respond to patient vitals and changes in condition.
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals for continuity of care.
• Maintain high emotional intelligence to support patient experience.
• Ensure professional accountability and ongoing development.

• Location: St. Joseph's Hospital – Cardiovascular ICU – Tampa, Florida
• Status: Full Time
• Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• On Call: No
• Always in person

Requirements

• RN (Registered Nurse) License
• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Nursing
• 1-year RN experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse – ICU Responsibilities And Skills

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
• Professional accountability and development
