Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• RN licensure in state of employment.
• Certification in Nursing Professional Development within two years.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required for critical care areas.
• NRP certification required for perinatal areas.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding: Communicates with new employee before start date to introduce, assess learning style, and outline orientation.
• Diagnosis: Collaborates with Clinical Manager to discuss new hire history and learning needs.
• Identification of Educational Outcomes: Prepare competency-based orientation for new hires.
• Planning: Schedule clinical orientation based on experience and background; select preceptors.
• Implementation: Ensure classroom orientation and unit acclimation; provide instruction on infection control and equipment.
• Evaluation: Review orientee progress weekly and participate in 90-day evaluations.
• Leadership and Professional Development: Demonstrate leadership, mentor peers, and support ongoing education.
• Other: Provide education across shifts and participate in councils to improve competencies.
