Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network seeks a Professional Development Specialist (PDS), a self-directed RN with advanced knowledge in education and practice. The PDS serves as educator, change agent, researcher, mentor and leader, central to clinical population needs and department goals.

Key duties include onboarding new hires, identifying learning gaps, planning and implementing education, coordinating preceptors, and evaluating outcomes to elevate nursing practice and patient care quality.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• RN licensure in the state of employment.
• Certification in Nursing Professional Development (ANCC/ANPD) within two years.
• BLS certification is required. ACLS certification required for all critical care areas. NRP certification required for all perinatal areas.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding: Communicates with new employee before start date, identifies learning style, provides orientation overview.
• Assessment/Diagnosis/Planning: identifies learning needs and establishes competency-based orientation for new hires.
• Implementation/Education Day: coordinates and delivers education, infection control and clinical competencies.
• Leadership/Mentorship: mentors nurses and coordinates preceptor development and staff education events.
• Evaluation/Quality: evaluates progress and outcomes of educational programs and improves content.
