Job summary

The Life Care Centers of America in Knoxville, TN seeks an RN MDS Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate MDS Assessments, CCAs, and Care Plans in accordance with CMS RAI Manual regulations. You will coordinate interdisciplinary processes, educate staff on CMS updates affecting documentation, review care plans, validate CMS reports, and support billing readiness.

A valid RN license, CPR certification, and at least 2 years' nursing experience (geriatric preferred) are required; strong integrity

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Current RN license in the applicable state and active in good standing.
• Two years of nursing experience; geriatric experience preferred.
• CPR certification on hire or during orientation; must remain current.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist with completion and submission of interdisciplinary, accurate, and timely MDS Assessments, CCAs, and Care Plans according to CMS RAI Manual Regulations
• Report changes in a patient’s condition identified by the MDS Assessment to the DON
• Provide education to direct care associates regarding updates or changes to CMS RAI Manual or Skilled Nursing Facility Regulations that impact documentation
• Assist with review of the Interdisciplinary Comprehensive Care Plan
• Review Final Validation Reports and attest that all assessments are completed and accepted into CMS QIES before billing
• Review CMS Reports to identify assessments completed or submitted late and develop systems to prevent recurrence
• Attend Daily PPS Meeting, Monthly Triple Check, and other meetings upon request
• Perform functions of a staff nurse as required
• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
• Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
• Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
• Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
