Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our General Surgery/Trauma Step-Down Unit in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will participate in patient care from admission to discharge, applying evidence-based practices and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

You will assess, plan, and implement care for surgical and traumatic patients, monitor conditions, and adjust plans while documenting accurately in the EHR.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Active RN license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where providing client nursing services.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or as per policy.

Responsibilities

• Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care and apply evidence-based practices.
• Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care with patient and family involvement throughout the continuum of care.
• Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team to influence outcomes.
• Upholds a culture of safety and ensures timely EHR documentation.
• May administer medications, treatments, and therapies per clinical protocols.
• Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution to support team collaboration and appropriate delegation.
• Pursues professional development and maintains required certifications; may float to other units as needed.
