Job summary

SCA Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Endoscopy to deliver perioperative care in our GI setting and support patients throughout the preoperative and recovery phases.

You will implement nursing plans, monitor anesthesia recovery, administer medications with the 8 rights, maintain sterile technique, document care, and collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure safety, comfort and optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• One year of GI, OR and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Current/state nursing licensure to practice in good standing.
• BLS or BCLS certification within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS.
• ACLS course certification within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS.
• PALS certification required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope of services within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement perioperative patient plans of care for endoscopy procedures.
• Protect patient from injury due to objects, chemicals, electrical, mechanical, or thermal sources.
• Demonstrate safe operation of equipment and report unsafe situations.
• Advocate for patient safety and speak up with safety concerns.
• Handle specimens per facility policy and reporting procedures.
• Adhere to universal protocol and time-out policy; ensure patient privacy and rights.
• Administer medications safely using the 8 rights; monitor responses.
• Maintain aseptic technique and infection prevention measures.
• Manage anesthesia recovery: moderate sedation and monitored anesthesia care.
• Assess patient status regularly and provide appropriate nursing care.
• Ensure endoscopy instruments are maintained and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Provide hand-off reports to team members; participate in quality improvement.
