Job summary

SCA Health in New Jersey is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Endoscopy to develop perioperative care plans and ensure safe anesthesia recovery for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

The role requires current RN licensure and GI/OR/med-surg experience, with a strong focus on safety, documentation, and education for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• One year of GI, OR and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Current state nursing licensure to practice in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.
• Protect the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal sources.
• Demonstrate safe operation of equipment and follow procedures for reporting and correcting unsafe situations.
• Speak up with safety concerns acting as the patient’s advocate.
• Handle specimens according to facility policy and procedures.
• Adhere to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment.
• Comply with Universal Protocol and site time-out policy.
• Communicate the patient’s current status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care.
• Administer medications safely and correctly using the 8 rights of medication administration.
• Practice and monitor aseptic technique.
• Manage patient recovery from anesthesia – Moderate sedation and Monitored anesthesia care.
• Assess patient status at intervals and provide nursing care and monitoring.
• Maintain endoscopy instruments and accessories and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Protect the patient from infection.
• Provide education regarding psychosocial, nutritional, medication, and pain management.
• Involve the patient or caregiver in decisions affecting perioperative care and rehabilitation.
• Transfer care with accurate hand-off reports and document episodes of care timely.
