Job summary

SCA Health in California is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) Endoscopy in the GI Department at a multi-specialty surgery center. You will develop individualized perioperative plans of care and protect patients from injury while following safety protocols.

You will administer medications using the 8 rights, maintain endoscopy instruments, monitor recovery from anesthesia, and collaborate across the care team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• One year of GI, OR and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Current state nursing licensure to practice in good standing.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification is required when pediatric care is included within 90 days of employment.
• GI Nursing certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop an individualized perioperative plan of care by implementing it.
• Protect the patient from injury caused by objects and hazards.
• Operate equipment safely and report unsafe situations.
• Speak up with safety concerns and advocate for the patient.
• Administer medications using the 8 rights of medication administration.
• Practice and monitor aseptic technique.
• Manage patient recovery from anesthesia including moderate sedation and MAC.
• Assess patient status and provide appropriate monitoring and care.
• Maintain endoscopy instruments and accessories in working order.
• Protect patient rights, dignity and privacy, and provide patient education.
