Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.
• Current RN licensure approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
• BLS certification within orientation; ACLS and NRP within one year of employment.
• Certifications in clinical expertise desirable; additional certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial patient assessment and plans care using the nursing process.
• Documents assessments, care delivery, and records in the patient chart.
• Coordinates bedside care and assists or delegates procedures as needed.
• Administers medications, IV fluids, blood, and blood products as scheduled.
• Notifies physicians of patient status and assists with rounds and treatments.
• Supervises nursing staff and ensures orders are transcribed accurately.
• Prioritizes physician orders and communicates with patient and family.
• Checks equipment and participates in discharge planning and teaching.
• Acts as primary care giver, team leader, or charge nurse when needed.
• Assists orientation of new personnel and serves as a role model.
