Job summary

West Tennessee Healthcare in Jackson, TN, seeks a skilled Registered Nurse to provide quality patient care on the assigned unit during the night shift, using the nursing process and directing other staff as needed.

You will perform bedside care, monitor patient conditions, document, collaborate with physicians and care teams, participate in discharge planning, and ensure safety and adherence to policies. RN license and BLS required; ACLS/PALS preferred; NRP within 1 year.

Qualifications

• Completion of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree in nursing required.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Tennessee.
• BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period and kept current.
• ACLS & PALS is preferred; NRP within one year of employment and kept current.
• Additional certifications may be required at department’s discretion.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial patient assessment using the nursing process and plans care.
• Coordinates and delivers bedside care on the assigned unit.
• Administers or supervises administration of medications, IV fluids, blood, and blood products.
• Communicates with physicians and assists with treatments and rounds as needed.
• Supervises nursing staff on the unit and assigns tasks based on acuity.
• Ensures safety, proper disposal of hazardous waste, and documentation integrity.
• Participates in discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
• Assists in orientation of new personnel and serves as a role model.
