Job summary

Meijer is seeking a store leader to plan, direct and supervise team members across departments, focusing on customer service and sales growth. You will mentor staff, manage staffing, coaching and disciplinary actions, and uphold company standards while driving operational execution and a safe work environment.

You'll spend time in-store with customers and teammates to ensure outstanding service, participate in scheduling, training and development programs, and help maintain product presentation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions. Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Serve as mentor and coach for all team members and implement strategies to improve customer service and store sales.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning by providing career paths and development needs; participate in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor team members to ensure customer service and sales goals are exceeded and area maintained to Meijer standards.
• Ensure teams are thoroughly trained and have completed required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service is delivered.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Reliable and consistent attendance required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
