Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a store leader to plan, direct and supervise day-to-day operations across departments. You will mentor team members, staff and hire to meet needs, and drive customer service and store sales while upholding company standards.

You will promote the Meijer Friendly Initiative, ensure training, manage attendance, and foster a safe, inclusive environment during prime shopping hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments across store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Ability to communicate to team members with clear and precise direction.
• Conflict resolution and root-cause issue analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Experience mentoring team members including hourly staff and SDITs; completion of required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day to day store operations.
• Serves as mentor and coach for all team members.
• Implements strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales while meeting customer needs.
• Maintains store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and standards.
• Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning and provides career paths and development needs.
• Documents disciplinary actions and makes recommendations regarding discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service and communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative.
• Ensures team is trained and communicates about safety; maintains a safe work environment.
• Spends time in-store engaging with customers and team members; ensures compliance with training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
