Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a store leadership role in Michigan to oversee staffing, training and customer service within a busy retail environment. You will drive sales, manage shrink, and coach teams to deliver Meijer standards.

The position requires 2–3 years in retail with at least 1 year in management, plus certification completion. Expect rotational duties across departments, safety emphasis, and strong communication with staff and customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• 2–3 years of related retail experience
• 1 year of management experience
• Rotational assignments in meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience helpful
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflits and address root causes
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information for decisions
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across the organization
• Successful completion of all required certifications

Responsibilities

• Ensure courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members
• Staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development for team members
• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes discharge recommendations
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations
• Mentors and coaches team members to exceed goals and maintain Meijer standards
• Ensures the team is thoroughly trained in all job aspects and training completed
• Spends majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team
• Promotes a safe work environment
• Reliable and consistent attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned
