Job summary

Safeway in California is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations when the Store Director and ASD are not present. This role includes customer service, training, interviewing and merchandising responsibilities.

You will supervise late-shift operations, coordinate with leadership, and help ensure store standards, safety programs and customer satisfaction. Retail grocery experience and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

• Education Level: High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Four or more years retail experience required.
• Retail grocery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works primarily closing shifts to run total store operations in the absence of the Store Director and ASD.
• Works with the ASD on center of store operations and fills in for ASD on days off.
• Overal l management responsibility for total store operation and customer issue handling in absence of leaders.
• Initiates corrective action as needed when leaders are absent.
• Acts as liaison between leaders and late shift operations for smooth operations.
• Encourages enthusiastic customer awareness and performs suggestive selling.
• Performs ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking and merchandising duties.
• Coordinates with night stockers and day stockers for closing/day shifts.
• May perform duties of receiving clerk in absence of Inventory Control Clerk.
• Builds and executes marketing/merchandising plans with Head Clerks/POP staff.
• Orders for displays and works with day stockers to minimize stockouts.
• Supports strategy execution to improve product placement, profit, and store standards.
• Trains Head Clerks/PICs for potential promotion to Third Person in Charge.
