Job summary

Staples is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead a sales-driven, service-oriented team in a busy retail store. You will cultivate customer relationships, drive conversions, and deliver total solutions while promoting a positive, inclusive environment. Hiring immediately.

You will coach the team, monitor performance, and partner with the GM to ensure strong store operations and community engagement. This role emphasizes leadership and customer-first selling.

Qualifications

• 2+ years managing a sales team in a retail or services industry.
• Able to engage customers and understand their needs.
• Strong communication, organization, planning and adaptability.
• Review results against goals and drive growth strategies.
• Ability to manage conflict in a cooperative manner.
• Ability to lift/move materials 10–50 pounds and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership in community, customer service, sales, and team development.
• Develop a high-performing team focused on delivering an exceptional store experience and consultative selling.
• Coach, train, and role-play to improve performance.
• Achieve sales and service goals, protect profit margins, and execute store operations.
• Set cadence for sales readiness and guide merchandising opportunities.
• Delegate operational tasks in partnership with the GM and share store-operations responsibility.
