Job summary

Burlington Stores is seeking a Shortage Control Associate to uphold security at store entrances and high‑risk areas while delivering outstanding customer service. You will engage with customers and associates with confidence, greet everyone warmly, and help reduce shrink through attentive monitoring and knowledge of shortage reduction programs.

The role requires standing for long periods, flexibility for nights and weekends, and collaboration with store leadership.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or Operations is preferred.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to visually monitor store environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
• Ability to review, analyze and comprehend business trends.
• Exhibits a positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting.
• Able to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment with detailed focus and disciplined decision making.
• Excellent communication with customers and co-workers.
• Excellent leadership skills that support fostering productive business relationships.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional appearance and greet customers entering or exiting the store to promote a sense of control and security.
• Monitor entrances and high‑risk areas to reduce opportunities for theft and ensure a secure environment.
• Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious subjects to the Manager on Duty.
• Provide training and guidance to associates on shortage reduction programs and safety practices.
• Collaborate with store leadership and participate in store rallies to communicate theft prevention strategies.
