Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a retail team member to provide courteous service, assist customers, and manage merchandise on the sales floor. You will ring up items, handle cash, and maintain a neat, organized store environment.

The role emphasizes accurate cash handling, effective communication, and strong customer service skills. As a core store presence, you will answer questions, restock shelves, and maintain professional appearance.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and GGW associates.
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all customers.
• Ability to settle customer complaints.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods (up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift).
• Ability to bend and lift up to 40 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill including making change, operating the register, and using the card machine
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customers' questions promptly
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and assists customers with selections
• Maintains clean professional appearance
• Maintain an orderly and clean register area
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary
• Perform general housekeeping duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves and dusting
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
