Position Overview

MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and professional Retail Cashier to join our Glen Carbon Store team. No degree is required; High School Diploma/GED preferred. Effective communication skills with co-workers, customers, and management are essential. Must be organized and able to interact with a diverse work population. Basic math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Greet and acknowledge customers as they enter the store, assist on the sales floor, and answer the phone within three rings with a professional greeting.
  2. Operate the store cash register, handle cash and credit card transactions, process discounts and returns, and balance the register.
  3. Stock, straighten, rotate, and maintain the cleanliness of the store area efficiently and according to standards.
  4. Request assistance from managers for returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.
  5. Maintain store cleanliness by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and shining surfaces.
  6. Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with team members and leadership; collaborate cross-functionally to enhance communication.
  7. Follow safe work practices through awareness and observation.
  8. Ensure the workplace is hazard-free by removing obstructions and keeping aisles and walkways clear of debris.
  9. Maintain a professional appearance at all times, adhering to MERS/Goodwill's dress code.
  10. Safeguard agency assets, including cash, donated items, and purchased items, from harm, damage, or theft; report any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession.
  11. Adhere to all MERS/Goodwill policies, retail procedures, and safety and security regulations.
  12. Perform all other duties as assigned.
