Job summary

Macy's is seeking an Asset Protection Detective to guard assets, reduce shortage, and ensure a safe, customer-focused shopping environment. You will use surveillance, investigative tools, and collaboration with store teams and law enforcement to identify theft and support investigations.

On a daily basis, you will protect customers, colleagues, and merchandise, prepare clear documentation, and contribute to training on protection protocols.

Qualifications

• Observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment.
• Strong communication with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement.
• Use sound judgment and de-escalation to maintain a safe store environment.
• Handle proprietary and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
• For jobs in New York, a NYS Security Guard License is required.

Responsibilities

• Identify theft and dishonest activity using surveillance and reporting systems.
• Partner with store teams and law enforcement on investigations.
• Apply de-escalation tools to maintain safety for customers and colleagues.
• Prepare documentation and evidence for investigations, audits, and legal proceedings.
• Train colleagues on asset protection protocols and shortage reduction.
• Testify in court when needed.
