Job summary

Macy's is seeking an Asset Protection Detective to help protect assets and reduce shortage in a customer-focused retail environment. You'll use surveillance, investigations, and partnerships with store teams and law enforcement to identify theft and recover merchandise.

You will apply de-escalation techniques, prepare clear documentation for investigations, audits, and legal proceedings, and train colleagues on asset protection protocols.

Qualifications

• Ability to observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment.
• Strong communication skills with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement.
• Use sound judgment and de-escalation tools to maintain a safe environment.
• Handle proprietary, sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
• For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License is required.

Responsibilities

• Use surveillance techniques, investigative tools, and reporting systems to help identify theft, dishonest activity, and shortage trends.
• Partner with Asset Protection leaders, store teams, and law enforcement to support investigations and protect company assets.
• Apply de-escalation tools and sound judgment to help maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
• Prepare clear documentation, statements, and evidence to support investigations, audits, and legal proceedings.
• Support team readiness by training colleagues on protocols that help protect company assets.
• Testify in court for criminal and civil cases, as needed.
• Respond to alarm calls, support special assignments, and facilitate first aid for customers and colleagues when needed.
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.
