Job summary

Macy's is looking for an Asset Protection Detective to protect company assets, reduce shortage, and maintain a safe, customer-focused environment. Use surveillance, investigations, and collaboration with store teams and law enforcement to identify theft and recover merchandise.

Expect to work with incident documentation, training, and testimony when required, supporting a secure shopping experience for customers and colleagues across shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement.
• Ability to use sound judgment, de-escalation tools, and company procedures to support a safe environment.
• Ability to handle proprietary, sensitive, and confidential information with discretion and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Use surveillance techniques, investigative tools, and reporting systems to help identify theft, dishonest activity, and shortage trends.
• Partner with Asset Protection leaders, store teams, and law enforcement to support investigations and protect company assets.
• Apply de-escalation tools and sound judgment to help maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
• Prepare clear documentation, statements, and evidence to support investigations, audits, and legal proceedings.
• Testify in court for criminal and civil cases, as needed.
