Job summary

Macy's, Inc. is seeking an Asset Protection Detective to protect assets, reduce shortage, and uphold a safe, customer-focused shopping environment.

You will use surveillance, investigate and respond to theft, and partner with store teams and law enforcement to safeguard our customers, colleagues, and business. Successful candidates will leverage training, observation, investigation, and de-escalation skills to maintain a welcoming store while supporting investigations and protecting company

Qualifications

• Ability to observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement.
• Ability to use sound judgment, de-escalation tools, and company procedures to support a safe environment.
• Ability to handle proprietary, sensitive, and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
• For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License is required.

Responsibilities

• Use surveillance techniques, investigative tools, and reporting systems to help identify theft, dishonest activity, and shortage trends.
• Partner with Asset Protection leaders, store teams, and law enforcement to support investigations and protect company assets.
• Apply de-escalation tools and sound judgment to help maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
• Prepare clear documentation, statements, and evidence to support investigations, audits, and legal proceedings.
• Support team readiness by training colleagues on protocols that help protect company assets.
