Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive team member engagement, coaching, and performance management across a span of care. You will direct Leads and Team Leaders and be accountable for area operations and financials, including scheduling, safety, and process improvements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 4+ years in retail or customer service with progressive leadership. A strong focus on service and inclusive culture is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support store staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Involvement in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financial results by executing corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance across the store and ensures adherence to procedures.
• Guides Team Leaders and Leads in assigning daily tasks and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
