Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement, coaching and development for team members, while championing effective onboarding, performance feedback and leadership succession. You will direct Leads and Team Leaders and own area operations and financial results, including staffing, safety, and process improvements.

You will identify talent, sustain a diverse pipeline, ensure Meijer standards, and lead initiatives to maximize sales and productivity across the span of care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrates commitment to safety and working in a safe environment.
• Shows proactive thinking to help Meijer meet customer needs and grow market share.

Responsibilities

• Engage with team members to onboard, train and develop them with coaching and feedback.
• Identify talent and discuss careers to support store staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Hold candid discussions to ensure Meijer standards are upheld and growth within the organization.
• Oversee area operations and financial results, driving budgeted performance and productivity.
• Drive safety/compliance and maintain store condition; follow procedures.
• Guide Team Leaders and Leads in daily assignments and training needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
