Job description

The Restaurant Manager is responsible for leading a team of F&B professionals to deliver high-quality food and beverages, ensuring food safety and sanitation, and maintaining profitability. This role involves managing daily restaurant operations, including employee selection, development, and performance management. The manager aims to enhance top-line sales and guest experience through a superior team and service. Responsibilities also include overseeing inventory and supplies, optimizing profits, and ensuring guest satisfaction. Additionally, the manager supports maintaining quality standards across all job aspects.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: Based on Business Needs

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and operate the bar and floor, coaching and developing staff by example.
  2. Ensure consistent preparation and service of food and beverage according to recipes and brand standards.
  3. Assist with employment decisions, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplining staff.
  4. Provide orientation and oversee training for new employees.
  5. Fill in as needed based on business fluctuations.
  6. Prepare and organize all required paperwork, reports, and schedules.
  7. Maintain equipment through inspections and preventative maintenance.
  8. Ensure timely employee performance appraisals and adherence to policies.
  9. Coordinate food, beverage, and labor costs, maintaining operational standards.
  10. Schedule staff to meet business demands while controlling labor costs.
  11. Administer corrective actions fairly and promptly for policy violations.
  12. Train staff in safe operation of equipment and sanitation practices.
  13. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation schedules.
  14. Monitor food storage and temperature controls.
  15. Manage departmental performance, communication, and sales promotions.
  16. Ensure proper setup, cleanliness, and readiness of the restaurant for service.
  17. Adhere to budgets, control costs, and manage supplier relationships.
  18. Complete administrative documentation accurately.
  19. Understand and communicate brand standards to the team.
  20. Create and implement sales initiatives and staff incentives with GM approval.
  21. Maintain cleanliness of dining areas and service materials.
  22. Remain focused and organized during shifts.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years management experience.
  • At least 1 month in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, preferably Restaurant 365.
  • Proficient in food planning, preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, policies, personnel management, recordkeeping, and reporting.

Physical Abilities:

  • Able to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, and work for long periods (up to 10 hours).
  • Visual acuity for close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Maintain confidentiality, listen actively, control emotions, and be receptive to ideas.

Leadership Skills:

  • Exhibit critical thinking, motivation, initiative, flexibility, and team motivation.

Customer Service Skills:

  • Provide excellent guest service, deal effectively with contacts, and maintain professionalism.
