Job summary

Vibra Healthcare in Longview, TX seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide adult and geriatric respiratory care under supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Manager. You will set up and operate respiratory equipment, document treatments, and participate in ventilator care and weaning as prescribed by physicians.

The role requires BLS on hire with ACLS within 90 days, ongoing licensure maintenance, and active engagement in department meetings and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice by the state of employment as a Respiratory Practitioner.
• Must have BLS upon hire and obtain ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• Must maintain licenses and certification for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides care for the Adult or Geriatric patient, ages 18 years and over.
• Explains purpose and procedure of treatments, tests and equipment to the patient and properly document all education given to patient(s) and their caregivers on the patient education form in the patient’s chart.
• Conduct physician prescribed treatments: including Hand Held Nebulizer Therapy and various nasal oxygen devices to administer prescribed vapors and gases, humidity, and oxygen concentrations.
• Set up, operate and monitor ventilators; participate in ventilator weaning under physician direction.
• Record all pertinent information of treatments and patient response on respiratory care records and MARs.
• Perform trach care and change out trach tubes per hospital policy and procedure.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repair of equipment and proper documentation in cleaning logs.
• Make rounds checking ventilator and oxygen equipment per policy.
• Attend monthly Respiratory Care departmental meetings.
