Job summary

Vibra Healthcare in Abilene, TX seeks a Respiratory Practitioner to provide adult and geriatric respiratory care in a Long Term Acute Care setting. The role involves setting up and operating ventilators, administering prescribed therapies, and documenting patient responses.

You will perform blood gas analyses, manage oxygen delivery, and participate in ventilator weaning under physician direction. A state license and BLS are required, ACLS within 90 days, with ongoing training and safety

Qualifications

• Licensed by the state as a Respiratory Practitioner.
• BLS required on hire; ACLS within 90 days of employment.
• Licenses and certifications must be maintained for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Care for adults and geriatric patients (18+) in respiratory care.
• Explain procedures and document patient education in charts.
• Perform physician-prescribed treatments (nebulizers, nasal oxygen, humidity, oxygen concentrations).
• Set up, operate and monitor ventilators; assist in ventilator weaning under physician direction.
• Maintain ventilation during CPR and assist intubation when needed.
• Record treatments and patient responses on respiratory care records and MARs.
• Perform tracheostomy care and tube changes per policy.
• Prepare and process respiratory equipment; ensure CIDex OPA functionality.
• Conduct blood gas analysis and maintain device competency.
• Attend monthly Respiratory Care department meetings.
