Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Montana seeks a Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy and evaluate resident response. The role functions as consultant, educator and clinician to clinical staff.

Responsibilities include promoting healing, safe administration of therapies including ventilation and monitoring, equipment setup and management, coordination with nursing leadership, discharge planning

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• Current BLS (required), ACLS (preferred).
• Fingerprint clearance is required.
• TB test current within the last year.
• Physical examination within the last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination card on file.
• Ventilator unit experience required; LTC or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Possess effective communication skills to maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers, and agencies.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care and education.
• Provides safe administration of therapy including ventilation and monitoring.
• Sets up and uses medical gases, humidification, aerosols and airway management as applicable.
• Oversees clinical management of rehab department including case management and quality improvement.
• Ensures billing, records and equipment records are maintained for rehab services.
• Collaborates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice.
• Assesses, plans and evaluates respiratory therapy care and life support across the center.
• Coordinates equipment orders and maintenance with staff and providers.
• Communicates changes in resident condition to physicians and care teams.
• Develops discharge plans for residents and tracks follow-up on equipment.
