Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Missoula, MT is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide independent respiratory care per physician orders and educate clinical staff. The role requires CRT/RRT certification, BLS, and experience with ventilator units in long-term care settings.

You will assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy, and monitor responses while collaborating with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice and ensure compliant documentation.

Qualifications

• Must hold CRRT or RRT certification as appropriate for the practicing state.
• High school diploma is required.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Tuberculosis testing and physical within required timeframes.
• Ventilator unit experience, preferably in LTAC or skilled nursing.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care, diagnostics, and education.
• Administers respiratory therapies, including mechanical ventilation and monitoring.
• Sets up and manages medical gas delivery, humidification, aerosols and related equipment.
• Oversees rehab department clinical management and care planning.
• Coordinates equipment orders and ensures proper documentation and records.
• collaborates with nursing to integrate respiratory care into daily practice and trains staff.
• Evaluates respiratory care plans and life support across the nursing center.
• Develops discharge plans and tracks preventive maintenance for respiratory equipment.
