Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Montana is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy and monitor responses in a long-term care setting.

The role emphasizes education, collaboration with nursing staff, ventilation support, and adherence to state and federal guidelines. BLS is required; ACLS preferred; candidates must maintain certifications and pass clearances.

Qualifications

• Must hold CRT or RRT credential in the practicing state.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Finger Print Clearance required.
• TB test within the last year.
• Physical within the last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination/card required.
• Ventilator unit experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred.
• Excellent communication with residents, families, staff and physicians.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents by respiratory care, testing, and education.
• Administers respiratory care including intermittent/continuous therapy and ventilation.
• Sets up and uses medical gases, humidification, aerosols, medications, and airway management.
• Oversees rehab department management, case management and quality improvement.
• Manages reimbursement, services criteria, billing, and resident/equipment records.
• Collaborates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice and trains staff.
• Assesses and plans respiratory therapy care across the nursing center.
