Qualifications

• Must be certified as CRT or RRT in the practicing state.
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Current Finger Print Card Clearance.
• TB test within the last year.
• Physical within the last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination or card as required by policy.
• Ventilator unit experience required; LTC or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Effective communication with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants and regulators.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines for practice.

Responsibilities

• Promote healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care and education.
• Administer respiratory therapy including ventilator support and oxygen monitoring.
• Set up and manage medical gases, humidification, aerosols, medications and airway management.
• Oversee rehab department management, including case management and quality improvement.
• Handle reimbursement, billing and records for rehab services.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate respiratory care and life support.
• Coordinate equipment orders and document needs from referral sources.
• Communicate resident condition changes and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Develop discharge plans for residents and follow up on equipment maintenance.
• Assess developmental needs across the lifespan and tailor care accordingly.
• Provide general medical equipment and supplies as ordered.
• Other duties as assigned.
