Job summary

Sweetwater Care seeks a Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures in a skilled nursing setting. You will interpret physician orders, assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy and evaluate resident response, while educating staff and consulting with clinical leadership.

Required credentials include CRT or RRT and current BLS; ACLS preferred. Ventilator unit experience and a background in long-term acute care or skilled nursing are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Must be a CRT or RRT in the state of practice.
• High school diploma required.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Finger Print Card Clearance.
• TB test within the last year.
• Physical within the last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination/card.
• Ventilator unit experience required; LTC or skilled nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care, diagnostic testing, education.
• Administers respiratory care including therapy, ventilation, airway management and monitoring.
• Sets up and uses medical gases, humidification, aerosols, medications, ventilatory support and chest physiotherapy as needed.
• Coordinates with rehab/ nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice.
• Manages equipment coordination and documentation of orders from physicians, residents or families.
• Communicates changes in resident condition to the team and adjusts care plans accordingly.
• Develops discharge plans for residents and tracks follow-up on equipment maintenance.
