Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy and evaluate resident response. Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma required.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the practicing state.
• Current BLS (required), ACLS (preferred).
• Current Finger Print Card Clearance.
• Current TB in the last year.
• Physical within the last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination/card.
• Ventilator Unit experience required; LTC or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care, diagnostics, psychosocial support and education.
• Administers respiratory care including intermittent/continuous therapy and mechanical ventilation.
• Sets up and administers medical gases, humidification, aerosols, medications and airway management.
• Oversees rehab department management, case management, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensures rehab department management including reimbursement, services, billing and records.
• Coordinates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice; trains staff as needed.
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates respiratory therapy care and life support for residents.
• Coordinates equipment orders and documentation from referrals, physicians, residents or caregivers.
• Communicates with residents and families about changes in condition and care plans.
• Develops discharge plans and follows up on therapy equipment maintenance.
• Assesses developmental needs across age groups and adjusts care accordingly.
• Provides general medical equipment and supplies as ordered by physicians.
