Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support for neonatal to geriatric patients. You will monitor and wean oxygen therapy, analyze arterial blood gases, and document patient information per policy.

Required licenses and certifications include state RT license, NBRC CRT, BLS, with ACLS/PALS due within the first 90 days.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required.
• Must hold current Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.
• Credentialed by NBRC as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• NRP certification for NICU-trained therapists (if assigned to NICU).
• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PALS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced respiratory therapy procedures per policy.
• Reviews and documents clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and coworkers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides age-appropriate care to neonatal through geriatric patients.
• Maintains up-to-date certifications and knowledge of procedures.
• Attends staff meetings and performs other duties as required.
