Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide care for neonatal to geriatric patients, including oxygen therapy, ventilation support, and diagnostic testing in both in-patient and out-patient settings, following physician orders and established policies.

Required education includes an Associate's Degree; state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist; NBRC RRT certification; and BLS with ACLS within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures per policy.
• Reviews and documents clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures including ABG analyses.
• Provides age-appropriate care across neonatal to geriatric populations.
• Adapts care to the patient’s privacy and communication needs.
