Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support for patients from neonatal to geriatric. You will monitor oxygen therapy, report ABGs, and assist with airway management, under physician orders and established procedures.

Required credentials include an associate degree, current state license, BLS, and certification renewals within 90 days of hire; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required for NICU staff.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required.
• Current Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required within 90 days of hire.
• Strong data entry and patient information management skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to policy.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care appropriate to patient age group in assigned area.
• Maintains up-to-date professional certifications and knowledge.
• Attends staff meetings.
• Other related duties as required.
