Job summary

Citigroup Inc. is seeking a Mortgage Lending Officer in San Jose, CA to originate high-quality residential real estate loans and build strong client relationships.

This highly interactive role requires collaboration with branch partners, operations, and external referral sources to grow mortgage sales. The position requires 2–5 years of mortgage-related experience, a proven sales track record, and registration as a mortgage loan originator.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years relevant experience.
• 3+ years mortgage sales experience required.
• Residential Mortgage experience required.
• Established book of business.
• Proven product sales capability is required.
• FHA/VA & conventional loan experience preferred.
• Ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
• Ability to communicate required documents to obtain a loan.
• Knowledge of consumer lending laws including RESPA and privacy.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong relationship development and management skills.
• Expertise of general lending products and mortgage industry.
• Must register as a mortgage loan originator with the NMLS and obtain a unique identifier.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about financial situation and lending needs to achieve home ownership goals.
• Collect and analyze customer financial information and goals.
• Analyze financial information to assess loan qualification.
• Recommend lending solutions to meet objectives.
• Advise customers on consequences, risks, and benefits of loans.
• Promote Citi’s brand to real estate agents and customers.
• Visit customers outside Citi offices as needed.
• Work with internal partners to support customers.
• Refer customers to other Citi professionals as needed.
• Coordinate with Operations, Processors, and Underwriters for loan processing and closings.
• Develop referral relationships to drive mortgage business.
• Introduce clients to segment partners when appropriate.
• Stay updated on local market trends and regulatory changes.
• Assess risk and ensure compliance with laws and Citi policies.
