Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Los Altos, California, seeks a Mortgage Lending Officer to originate high-quality residential real estate loans within Citi's Retail Mortgage business.

This role collaborates with real estate agents, branch partners, and operations to drive mortgage sales and client relationships. The ideal candidate has 3+ years mortgage sales experience, an established book of business, and strong knowledge of lending regulations; you will explain financial calculations clearly and coordinate

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• 3+ years of mortgage sales experience.
• Residential mortgage experience.
• Established book of business.
• Proven product sales capability.
• FHA/VA and conventional loan experience preferred.
• Ability to explain financial calculations and pricing.
• Ability to communicate required documents for loan processes.
• Knowledge of consumer lending laws including RESPA.
• Customer service skills.
• Strong relationship development and management skills.
• Expertise in general lending products and mortgage industry.
• Must register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and obtain a unique identifier.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about financial situation, goals and lending needs.
• Collect and analyze customer financials, goals, income, assets and credit history.
• Assess whether customer and property qualify for a lending solution.
• Recommend lending solutions to meet objectives.
• Explain consequences, risks and benefits of lending options.
• Promote Citi's brand and lending services to agents, builders and clients.
• Visit customers outside Citi offices based on geography and market conditions.
• Collaborate with internal partners to support and grow relationships.
• Refer customers to Citi professionals for non-lending services.
• Work with Operations to ensure smooth transfer of loan apps.
• Ensure timely loan closings with Processors/Closers and customers.
• Develop referral relationships (realtors, CPAs, builders).
• Introduce clients to segment partners when appropriate.
• Stay informed about market trends and regulatory changes.
