Job summary

Essex Property Trust is seeking a Porter to maintain grounds and common areas at one or more properties in the Los Angeles area. The role involves cleaning exterior spaces, lobbies, and restrooms, plus assisting residents and reporting issues to management.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, some custodial experience, and basic computer skills. It is a five‑day onsite role with potential for weekend coverage and safety‑critical duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Some custodial or general maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Comfortable with basic computer tasks and using Outlook emails.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness of exterior areas including sidewalks and parking lots.
• Clean and maintain common areas such as lobbies, hallways, and restrooms.
• Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Ensure trash receptacles are emptied and recycling is followed.
• Interact with residents in a friendly and professional manner.
• Perform seasonal tasks like snow/ice removal and power washing exterior surfaces.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
