Job summary

Socket Fiber is seeking a Field Services Technician - Tier I to perform on-site installations for residential customers. You will use a company vehicle to travel across service areas, install and configure customer equipment, and ensure a professional, seamless experience from start to finish.

The role requires driving, readiness for on-call rotations, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions. Safety and customer satisfaction are top priorities in this field-based position.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in telecommunications, networking, or field service.
• Valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Willing to participate in on-call rotation (nights, weekends, holidays).
• Able to lift up to 70 lbs and operate a bucket truck.
• Flexible schedule, including Saturdays and/or Sundays.
• Willingness to obtain a Class E license if offered.
• Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Able to work in underground and aerial environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent installations and repairs for residential and business services.
• Install and configure customer equipment (routers, modems, and Wi‑Fi gateways).
• Deliver professional, friendly, and knowledgeable service visits.
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity and service issues.
• Install, terminate, and test network cabling per codes and standards.
• Complete accurate documentation of service activities.
• Safely operate company vehicles and equipment per safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean driving record and represent Socket in the field.
